🧼 About Tallow Soap
Why use tallow in soap?
Tallow (rendered beef fat) is an ancient, time-tested skincare ingredient. Because its molecular structure is incredibly close to our skin’s natural oil (sebum), it absorbs beautifully and deeply moisturizes without clogging pores. It creates a hard, long-lasting bar of soap with a rich, creamy, and stable lather that plant oils alone often struggle to replicate.
Does the soap smell like beef?
Not at all! We use rendered and deodorized beef tallow! By the time it is ready for soapmaking, it is completely odorless and pure white. Your soap will only smell like the natural essential oils or Fragrance Oils we add—or have a clean, neutral scent if you purchase our unscented bars.
Where do you source your tallow?
We believe in conscious sourcing. Our tallow is sustainably sourced from grass-fed, pasture-raised cattle. This ensures the highest concentration of skin-nourishing nutrients, like vitamins A, D, E, and K.
🌿 Skin & Ingredients
Is tallow soap good for sensitive skin, eczema, or psoriasis?
Yes! Many people switch to tallow soap specifically to soothe irritated skin. Because it is free from harsh synthetic detergents and foaming agents (like sulfates) it cleanses without stripping your skin’s natural moisture barrier. We highly recommend an unscented bar for anyone with hyper-sensitive skin.
Is there lye in the final product?
All real soap is made using lye (sodium hydroxide) mixed with fats. This chemical reaction is called saponification. Once this process is complete, no lye remains in the finished bar of soap—it has been entirely transformed into skin-loving soap and natural glycerin.
💧 Soap Care & Longevity
How long does a bar of tallow soap last?
Because tallow makes a naturally hard bar, our soap lasts longer than many handmade vegetable-oil-based soaps. On average, a single 4 ounce bar will last 2 to 3 weeks with daily shower use (14-21 showers), provided it is cared for properly.
How should I store my soap?
To get the absolute most out of your bar, keep it dry between uses.
-
Use a draining soap dish or a soap saver pad that allows airflow underneath.
-
Keep it out of direct, running shower spray when not in use.
-
Unused bars should be stored in a cool, dry, and dark place (like a linen closet or drawer—which will make your linens smell amazing!).
📦 Shipping & Policies
What is your return policy?
Due to the hygienic nature of personal care products, all sales are final. However, if we make an error on your order or it arrives damaged, we want to make it right! Please read our full Return & Refund Policy or contact us within 72 hours of delivery.
How is your soap packaged?
We hand-wrap our tallow soaps in beautiful, semi-translucent vellum wrappers. This keeps the bars protected, allows their beautiful, artisanal designs to peek through, and serves as an elegant, recyclable wrapping option. Additionally, this allows the bar to continue to dry and harden as time passes.
